Cees Meeuwis, lead investor

12 June 2026, Eindhoven – Europe’s Semiconductor sovereignty requires companies like XIVER
Dutch semiconductor scale-up accelerates production capacity for European and North American market leaders in AI, photonics and defense with €25 million investment
Eindhoven, June 12, 2026 – As Europe invests billions in technological sovereignty, the need for companies capable of both developing and manufacturing critical chip technologies within Europe is becoming increasingly urgent. This is precisely why companies such as XIVER, which has now secured €25 million in growth capital, are strategically important for both the Netherlands and Europe.
XIVER, a Dutch semiconductor company specializing in micro- and nanotechnology, has raised €25 million in growth capital from a consortium of Dutch entrepreneurs and family offices. In addition, XIVER expects to finalize a €25 million credit facility by the end of June to further expand its manufacturing base.
With this investment, XIVER will accelerate the expansion of its production capacity for advanced semiconductor and photonics applications, technologies that are essential for AI infrastructure, data communications, medical technology and defense systems. XIVER’s customers include several international market leaders in MBSEM and infrared technologies. This positions XIVER among the few European companies capable not only of developing advanced micro- and nanosystems, but also scaling them into industrial production.
Global demand for advanced chips is rapidly increasing due to the rise of AI, while geopolitical tensions continue to expose the vulnerabilities of relying on manufacturing capacity in Asia and the United States. Europe is therefore seeking to organize critical technologies and production capacity closer to home through internationally competitive companies. With this investment, XIVER contributes directly to meeting the rapidly growing demand from customers.
New production line to scale deeptech manufacturing
With the newly secured capital, XIVER is investing in a new 8-inch production line based on deep ultraviolet lithography (DUV), enabling the company to manufacture more complex components at larger scale and with shorter lead times.
In doing so, XIVER addresses a critical bottleneck within the European deeptech sector: many innovative companies possess strong technologies but struggle to transition from prototype development to scalable production. XIVER supports customers precisely in that transition, from photonics and high-speed data communications to defense applications and semiconductor equipment.
Since its carve-out from Royal Philips in early 2025, the company has established strategic collaborations with multiple international market leaders in Europe and North America, including ASML, for whom it produces thin-film microcomponents and membranes.
“The world of semiconductors and defense innovation is moving faster than ever. XIVER operates at exactly the point in the value chain where this momentum is translated into real production capacity. This gives XIVER a unique position as a deeptech provider within the advanced semiconductor ecosystem.”
Cees Meeuwis, lead investor
“The semiconductor industry is inherently global in nature. Europe’s success will largely depend on the development, industrialization and broad market adoption of next-generation technologies by leading players within the semiconductor industry. Within this European semiconductor ecosystem, XIVER plays a key role in bridging the gap between design and scalable manufacturing. From the Netherlands, we are working together with regional partners and research institutions to help build a stronger Europe, with the ambition of making Europe a global technological leader.”
